Private collection.       20세의 피카소     스페인에서 미술선생의 아들로 태어난 피카소는 바르셀로나에서 교육을 받았고, 1900년에서 1906 사이에 이미 파리에서 명성을 얻었다. 그는 다작의 '청색 시대'와 '장미빛 시대'에 툴루즈 로트렉, 아르누보, 상징주의의 영향을 받아 소외되고 버려진 계층에 속하는 외로운 인물들의 기이하고 우수에 찬 이미지들을 창조했다.     Leaning Harlequin. 1901.
